Plaisance is situated on the outskirts of the capital, long known as the hub and life and activity. Today standing at the crossroads, Plaisance motto “ En vizyon ver prosperite”. As a result of the boundary-demarcation, Plaisance lost a few of its landmarks and institutions such as the top-hill La Misere view, which now falls in the Les Mamelles District, the Plaisance St. Therese Church, again now in Les Mamelles.
As a result, the district is basically deprived of national monuments and governmental institutions but it does nevertheless have nature trails, with the well-known Copolia Trail leading the pack.
Plaisance's name was taken from a similar region on the island of Mauritius.
