Districts benefit from NCC's 'Give a Child a Gift' initiative

December 15, 2023- On Friday, December 15, 2023, the National Council for Children (NCC) took a heartwarming initiative to brighten the holiday season for children facing challenges in our communities.

The NCC, in collaboration with the Soroptimist Club, provided each District Administrator, including those from Praslin and La Digue, with five carefully chosen gifts. These gifts will find their way to the most deserving kids in communities across Seychelles, children who, due to financial constraints and other difficulties, might not have received a Christmas gift otherwise.

The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Mrs. Rose-Marie Hoareau, Minister for Local Government and Community Affairs and founding member of the Soroptimist Club, along with Mrs. Yasmi Umarji, CEO of the NCC.

Funds for these thoughtful gifts were raised through various initiatives organised by the Soroptimist Club. These were the successful film show at Deepam Cinema featuring 'Journey to Bethlehem' which raised SCR 12,300, and the recent gala dinner's raffle tickets.

This project, initiated by the NCC and supported by the Soroptimist Club, stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in supporting children in our communities during the holiday season. The Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs extends gratitude to all contributors, emphasizing the impact of collective acts of kindness in making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
